Team Bike Challenge 2010 Winners

It's official, having biked 1,926 miles and earned 1083 points, Team Nom Nom Nom from San Francisco take first place for San Francisco county and the whole region in the Team Bike Challenge. When informed of their victory Team Captain Thomson Nguyen replied, "Many thanks for setting this up, and all the work that you guys do! I was able to rope two people who've never even considered cycling to work into my team, and now they're sold on it, so I guess this event was a success!".

Second Place for the region went to the Gamma Rollers who took first place Alameda with 1,065 points and rode for their company Sterigenics in the Company Bike Challenge.

Third Place for the region went to the A Team who took first place in Santa Clara with 1,049 points and rode for their company Agilent in the Company Bike Challenge.

In Contra Costa County, Team "Baby I'm Bad News" took first place and rode for Sunpower in the Company Bike Challenge

In Marin County, the Tamiscal Firebirds took first place as they rode for the Tamalpais High School District. in the Company Bike Challenge

In Napa County, the Crankin Crushers took first place as they rode for Vintage High School in the Company Bike Challenge

In San Francisco County, Team Nom Nom Nom took first place.

in San Mateo County, Team ComRads took first place as they rode for SRI international in the Company Bike Challenge

In Santa Clara County, the A Team took first place riding for Agilent in the Company Bike Challenge

In Solano, Team Budweiser took first place as they rode for Anheuser Busch Inc. in the Company Bike Challenge.

In Sonoma, The EcoLeaders took first place.

Team Bike Challenge 2009 Winners

Team Tour de Turtle

The regional winning team out of all 9 Bay Area counties was Team Tour de Turtle from Marmot Mountain in Sonoma County, earning 594 points and riding a total of 982 miles in May. Second place was a tie between Team BORAT of Santa Clara and Team Full Tilt from Marin. Third place went to OUTSPOKIN, another Marmot Mountain team from Sonoma.

In the Team Bike Challenge, groups of up to 5 cyclists competed to ride their bikes for transportation as many days as possible in the month of may. Points were given out based on the type of cyclist each team member was. Novices receive the most points (5 per trip) as the competition tried to encourage new bike commuters to ride together with more experienced cyclists for support and encouragement.

Altogether 521 Teams in this year’s competition biked a total of 275,273 Miles, offsetting 267,015 pounds of pollution from the air, burning 11,836,739 calories and saving $144,518 in gas money. All together 121 companies participated in the competition this year. The teams from Cisco Systems biked an incredible 25,635 miles! At Marmot Mountain, 30% of their employees participated in the challenge!
