Andrew Casteel —

Nine Napa County locations have been established as “Energizer Stations” for the Thursday, May 13 “Bike to Work Day.” May 13 is the Bay Area’s 16th annual “Bike to Work Day,” when an estimated 150,000 commuters are expected to ride to work or school. Five of those locations are in Napa, one in American Canyon, one in Yountville and two are Upvalley: the Calistoga City Hall and St. Helena Cyclery, both which will provide refreshments from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. for bike commuters.

The warm weather has made for a better first couple days this year!

On May 1, 2009, I ventured out into a rain storm on a windy, very cold day. What a difference a year makes! The weekend was warm and sunny, making it easy to do shopping and run errands on the bike.

So far, I haven't had the need to use my automobile.

I haven't used by car since April 30. I'm hoping not to use my car for several more days.

Last year, this web site was a lot easier to use.

Last year, this web site was a lot easier to use. Last year, the graphics made it easy to see who was on each team, the standings, the classification of each team's riders and total miles for each team member at the same time. Now one must click on several pages to search for the same information.

This web site is very different from last year!

I went on my first ride of the month today. I shopped and did several errands on my bicycle. I did chores and shopped between 11:40 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. I went to the post office, a pharmacy, a coffee shop, a bicycle shop, a restaurant for lunch, and a barber. When I returned home, I attempted to enter my ride in the riding log. It has taken some time to figure out how to enter miles and times correctly.
