Although National Bike Month is still underway and all bike riders are encouraged to keep on riding, the official Bike to Work Day for the Bay Area has ended in celebration and cheers. Energizer stations were booming with activity, many Bay Area residents were taking to the streets on their bicycles, and Mother Nature delivered us a picture perfect riding day in most regions of the area.

Please enjoy this video by the Mark Jones, MTC TV. Bike to Work Day 2011 is presented by 511.org,  Metropolitan Transportation Commission, and Kaiser Permanente. The 2011 regional sponsors also include Bay Area Air Quality Management District, Beyond Pix Studios, Clif Bar, REI, Adobe, and the Bay Area Bicycle Coalition.

Note: Please note the video mentions a 25% increase in traffic. This is website traffic for www.youcanbikethere.com. Thank you.

Good News: We are updating our servers

Ami Sampat —

In an ongoing effort to increase the performance of our Bike to Work website, we will be upgrading our server this evening. An upgrade is warranted due to the significant growth in popularity of the Team Bike Challenge and other Bike to Work events and activities happening all around the Bay Area.

This upgrade requires a brief shutdown of our website (www.youcanbikethere.com) for a period of 3 hours, starting this evening at 12 AM midnight until 3 AM on May 11th. During this 3-hour period, administrators will shift the site to our new and more robust servers. Users will not be able to access the site during this short time period.

Once all the checks and balances have been completed, we will be delivering you a faster and more stable website so you can happily continue logging your miles, registering to win raffle prizes, finding Bike To Work Day energizer stations and much more.

We thank you for your patience during this upgrade and look forward to delivering you greatly improved service on May 11th.

Update: Servers have been updated!
