Have you ever been stuck in traffic behind a vehicle spewing smoke out of its tailpipe? Just when you thought traffic jams couldn’t get any worse! The Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s 1-800-EXHAUST Program allows Bay Area residents to protect air quality and respiratory health by making anonymous smoking vehicle reports.
To make a report, just take down the:
- license plate
- date
- time
- location
of your smoking vehicle sighting.
Reports can be made
- by phone: 1-800-EXHAUST (394-2878)
- online: www.1800exhaust.org
- email: exhaust@baaqmd.gov.
Once the Air District receives your report, they will send the vehicle owner a warning letter with information on assistance programs that can help them repair or retire their polluting vehicle.
